Kennedy Meadows has been open since 1917. The original lodge caught fire during the winter of 1940-1941. Early in the spring of 1941, crews showed up to Kennedy Meadows, cleaned up the mess, and by the 4th of July, the lodge that we know today was open for business.
Early in the morning on October the 1st 2007, that lodge caught fire and burned to the ground. Fortunately no one was injured, but the fire also spread to many adjacent buildings. By the end of that terrible morning cabins 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, the generator shed, the laundry house, and several smaller buildings had shared the same fate as the lodge. Fortunately not all was lost, the saloon, barn, over half of the cabins, and many other structures remain standing.
