About Us

The Bloom Family

Kennedy Meadows’ family and friends welcome you to the Gateway of the Emigrant Wilderness. Since 1917, Kennedy Meadows Resort has been a destination for people to come and enjoy the High Sierra.

Kennedy Meadows has something for everyone, with its 1950’s charm and hospitality. For generations, people have enjoyed our rustic cabins, general store, old-fashioned saloon, horseback riding, and family style dining.

Surrounding Kennedy Meadows is the Stanislaus National Forest and Emigrant Wilderness areas. This provides opportunities for beautiful hikes and riding to nearby lakes and streams, excellent fishing and hunting, stunning scenery for the photographer and a chance to enjoy Mother Nature at her finest.

Bring your friends and family and come enjoy a piece of history right in the middle of the High Sierra, where you’ll be treated like a friend.

Our History

1956 Lodge

In the 100 plus years that Kennedy Meadows has been in business there have been different owners that have made their mark and helped to build the resort into what it is today.

Frank and Irene Kurzi built the first lodge and cabins at Kennedy's. Lou Bitner, the Mitchell family and Sardella family followed and each added their own improvements and charm to Kennedy's.

In 1970, William Ritts bought Kennedy's from Reno Sardella. Willie worked hard for 27 years to improve the resort and pack station, and build lasting relationships with customers.

In 1997 Matt Bloom and family bought Kennedy's and are carrying on the tradition of Kennedy Meadows.
